It’s all change at YesTax!
The last few months have seen a swathe of organisational changes at YesTax. It’s 12 months since the company was acquired by The YesTax Employee Ownership Trust and during the past year, we’ve restructured things to better reflect the new ownership model. At YesTax, we believe that being owned by our employees means giving genuine control of the business to the people that helped make the company successful.
From 1st September, Rachael Hart was formally appointed as Director of the company. Rachael joined YesTax in April 2019 and was the first employee of the company, managing the R&D tax team during the company’s growth. Rachael is an exceptionally talented member of staff and has specialised in R&D tax relief since 2011. Her promotion to Director is fully deserved and she has already implemented several changes to ensure the company is well-positioned to face the challenges of the turbulent R&D tax market. Rachael is also a Trustee of the Trust which now owns the company.
Rachael’s appointment to the board of directors was a direct replacement for John Moxon. John founded the company in January 2019 and has opted to step down from his role as Director, freeing up space for staff progression. John now acts as a part-time consultant across all business matters and has maintained a small client portfolio. He continues to handle much of the company’s HMRC enquiry resolution service. So far, his extra free time away from work has been spent hoovering, tidying away toys and performing ad hoc domestic duties under the direction of his wife. He’s just turned 40, so the mid-life crisis is next.
September also saw the promotion of James Smith to Senior R&D Tax Consultant. James joined YesTax in July 2021 and his software expertise has proved invaluable since his arrival. James handles many of YesTax’s software-based R&D tax claims and in October 2023, James celebrated a major HMRC enquiry win on a large software-based claim. James has been an outstanding member of staff since the company’s transition to employee ownership and his promotion is fully deserved.
Imogen Williams was promoted to R&D Tax Consultant in September, having joined the company in February 2022 as R&D Tax Assistant. Imogen is an exceptionally hard-working member of staff and her rapid progression from university graduate to tax professional is highly commendable. She has almost completed her ATT studies and has impressed everyone with her desire to get things done.
Meshaal Qureshi joined YesTax in September 2023 as our new R&D Tax Assistant. Meshaal graduated from Birmingham City University with an undergraduate degree in Accounting and will shortly be completing her MSc in Artificial Intelligence. Meshaal will shortly be commencing her professional studies.
Finally, October saw the return of our Director, Natalia Pope, from maternity leave. Natalia celebrated the birth of her second daughter in April 2023. From October, her staggered return to work commenced and we look forward to her exceptionally loud laughs echoing around the office once again!
